Your campsite in the Basque Country

An exciting holiday awaits you, your family and friends at the Ilbarritz campsite in Biarritz. In a magnificent location right in the heart of the Basque Country that is your gateway to a large number of places of interest that you will want to visit as you discover this unique region. Culture with a capital C, local heritage sites and traditions galore are yours to delight in between Bayonne and Saint-Jean-de-Luz.  And of course no one can ignore the local gastronomic delights, the characteristic and delicious ewe’s milk cheese, piment d’Espelette and the famous Bayonne ham.

Visit Saint-Jean-de-Luz, walk along the seawall to the lighthouse, a historical listed building, and stroll through the pretty streets and alleyways of this traditional Basque village. With Spain being so close, take time out to discover San Sebastian and the famous La Concha beach, followed by delicious tapas in the old town. Closer to our campsite you will find the former whaling port of Guéthary, which then became a fishing village and  is now a lovely seaside resort. It has a magnificent municipal park where you can walk in the shade of 100-year-old trees and admire the contemporary sculptures that are the perfect partners for their tall leafy neighbours. This is an outing filled with culture and nature that will delight young and old alike.

At your campsite in Bidart, you will be able to enjoy lots of sunshine that is so typical of the South West with its lovely warm glow and discover the local heritage sites: the Chapel of Saint Joseph, the church and the exceptional buildings, some of which date back to the Second Empire.
